GrocEase ("the app", "we", "us") helps you create grocery lists and manage a home inventory. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We designed GrocEase to collect only what it needs to provide these features.
To use GrocEase you sign in with an email address and password or with Google Sign-In, handled by Firebase Authentication. When you sign in we receive and store your email address, a display name, and a unique account identifier. If you use Google Sign-In, Google provides your name, email address, and profile picture to create your account. We use this only to authenticate you and to associate your lists and inventory with your account.
The grocery lists, list items, and home-inventory items you create are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your account so they are available across your sessions and devices. This data is provided by you and used only to deliver the app's features.
GrocEase lets you build a list from a photo of a written or printed grocery list. When you choose or take a photo, the app runs on-device text recognition (OCR) to read the items and turn them into a list. Image processing happens locally on your device; GrocEase does not upload your photos to our servers, and the photo itself is not stored by the app after the list is created.
With your permission, GrocEase uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications (for example, reminders). This uses a device messaging token. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
GrocEase uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and basic diagnostic information (such as device model, OS version, and the state of the app at the time of a crash) so we can find and fix problems. This data is not used to identify you personally.
GrocEase does not show ads and does not use an advertising identifier.
GrocEase relies on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Messaging, and Crashlytics) and Google Sign-In to provide the services above. Their handling of data is governed by Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Your lists and inventory remain until you delete them or delete your account. To request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us at the address below and we will remove it. On-device data is removed when you uninstall the app.
GrocEase is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
